Description

A band of mischievous monkeys steals every one of a peddler's caps while he takes a nap under a tree. Literature of Delight. Under a tree, where the pedlar sleeps, he is unaware of the rascally bunch of thieves stealing away with his wares. Every hat is gone, and only a bunch of grinning monkeys can change such misfortune into a madcap adventure for every lover of les chapeaux. When some monkeys engage in a bit of monkey business, the cap peddler must use his imagination to retrieve his wares. "Caps! Caps for sale!" calls the peddler, until one day he wakes up from a nap to find his caps have disappeared. Fashioned from a folktale, here's "a bright picture book, infused with a humor which seems to spring from Slobodkina's own hearty enjoyment of the troubles of a peddler with a band of monkeys."
